Modern Views
An homage to classic modernism
This modernist plaster-clad home sits on a busy corner just blocks away from downtown Austin. With broad overhangs and simple forms, the three-level home is all about serenity, with spacious covered terraces, a rooftop deck, and a private courtyard off the lower level guest suite. All nestled into the mature oak canopies that dominate the hillside.
Our retired clients wanted to live close to all of Austin’s exciting activities - this residence allows them to be within walking distance of all the action and yet it offers a serene environment when they want to be alone.
Employing a simple palette of materials, and detailing glazed openings to expand the view beyond the confines of the interior spaces, the design of this residence looks to recede - emphasizing the intangibles of light and space, and in the end pursuing timelessness.
