Lake Austin Retreat
This Lake Austin home celebrates the rituals of life
The transformation of this Lake Austin home took what was a tired 1990’s pseudo-Tuscan home and made it a sophisticated abode for our entertaining loving and well-traveled clients.
Stripping away the pretentious “opulence” that the previous owners had lived with, we created an environment that is both soothing and luxurious. The opened sunroom creates 3 distinctive seating areas and is defined by an articulated wood ceiling. Oversized solid timber columns create the transition of the sunroom to the rest of the house. A veil of custom floor to ceiling steel windows + doors allows an uninterrupted view out to the site.
The soul of this home - its kitchen - is both functional and elegant. Two work islands allow this culinary family to function at both a daily level or while throwing a party. The internally focused library + bar is painted in a vibrant deep blue - flanked by floor to ceiling bookcases at one end and an 1880’s Spanish mercantile counter at the other. Storage pantries and wine rooms are discreetly tucked away out of view - creating a gracious entertainment environment. The master suite is again both functional and elegant. Its bath is a celebration where one can bathe and enjoy views out to the lake beyond a private terrace.
This home celebrates the rituals of life - to eat, bathe, sleep, laugh, and love.
