Grand Dame
This 1924 Spanish Revival home in Old West Austin underwent a revitalization after previous owners made alterations and additions over the years. The new owners aimed to respect the historical integrity of the 7,000 square foot property while inserting elegant updates.
On the main level, architectural changes were subtle, focusing on aligning center lines between rooms for better visual coherence. The original kitchen received updates, a dog pantry made of long leaf pine was added for pet essentials, and a formal dining room was transformed into a moody library for the clients’ collections. Upstairs, new windows and room openings were enlarged to connect with the once dimly lit entry hall, rooms were reorganized, and bathrooms were updated to suit the new homeowners’ needs.
Although these adjustments were minor individually, together they transformed the home into a fresh and elegant space that maintains its historical essence.
